Mike, David and Sharon Dunckle are Eagle River - Chugiak area residents since 1977 (1981 for Mike). The business is going into its twelfth year and operates year round with extended hours during the busy fall rental season. It is conveniently located on the main street in downtown Eagle River. Mike specializes in band and orchestra instruments, guitars, Pearl drums, Roland digital pianos/keyboards and Baldwin upright and grand pianos, but also carries sheet music, guitar pedals, effects processors, sheet music, recorders, music related gift items and accessories for the student through professional musician.

Mike's Music is operated with his mother, Sharon and father, Dave. Mike's commitment to providing a good musical experience for other students is evident in the stock he carries and his attention to customers requests.

An August 29, 1996 article on Mike and his business in the Chugiak - Eagle River Star newspaper caught the interest of a local filmmaker who filmed Mike and his store for a youth series on the PBS Channel 7. A followup article in October 1997 shows pictures of his prized hand made violin, the reason for starting the store.

What are the store hours?

Mike's normal hours are open Monday through Friday, Noon - 7:00 p.m. , Saturday, Noon - 5:00 p.m., closed Sunday. During the slow summer time, hours open to the public are reduced to allow time to prepare instruments for the fall rental season. Call for current summer hours. During September hours are increased to evenings and sometimes 7 days a week to accomodate the back to school instrument rental time. Hours are posted on the door, on the phone message machine, and on the home page.

Why did you move?

Mike's recent move to the Valley River Center Mall was necessary in order for him to expand the store and offer new and expanded product lines. It has also provided the additional benefits to customers of easier access and lower prices on everyday items.
