Teachers


Mike's Music offers lessons on the following instruments at this time (call us to see what has been added). We are always looking for teachers and hope to expand our studio space within the next 6 months. If you (or someone you know) is interested in teaching out of our studios at the store, please call us @ 694-MIKE (6453).

Lessons start from $20.00 per half hour depending upon the teacher and the instrument.

Violin/Fiddle - Mike Dunckle - Mike has taught ten years, eight with a private studio. He has taught group lessons at the store and private lessons. He has taught at the Alaska String Camp in Birchwood and teaches both standard and Suzuki methods from beginning to intermediate students. His students often are accepted into both the Junior Youth Symphony and 6th grade Honor Orchestra.

Violin/Viola - Rhonda Flowers - Rhonda teaches beginning violin and viola. She is currently a UAA music student and teaches two days each week at the store.

Piano -- Pam Stillman - Pam has been teaching for many years. She holds a bachelors degree in music and is working on her masters. She teaches beginning through advanced students and accompanies vocal and instrumental students for performances. She teaches Tuesday throughThursday.

Piano - Barbara Apodaca - Barbara has been teaching in the area for many years. She teaches beginning through advanced students. She teaches Mondays and Fridays.

Guitar -- Phil Beckett - Phil teaches beginning to advanced students at the store for both electric and acoustic guitar. He is a local family man and plays in several bands around the area. He emphasizes having fun while learning the guitar. He teaches Mon - Thurs 12 - 7 pm

Guitar -- Mapy Preskitt - Mapy teaches beginning guitar, bass guitar and cello. He is a music student at UAA and works at the store when he is not teaching. He teaches some evenings as well as during the day.

Guitar -- Bob Parsons - Bob teaches beginning to intermediate students at the store for electric and acoustic guitar. He is a local family man and plays professionally in the area from time to time.

Drums -- Tim Adger - Tim teaches entry level drum set percussion. He works at the store as our band repair tech as well as playing in local bands in the area on trumpet and percussion. He teaches Mondays and Fridays.
